Saturday, Nov. 25 is the last day of the West Allis Farmers Market’s 2017 season. We want to thank all of the vendors and shoppers that joined us this year and made the Market a success!
2017 was a fantastic year for the West Allis Farmers Market and we welcomed some great events this year. Highlights of our 2017 season include:
Curds & Kegs, June 8: The West Allis Cheese & Sausage Shoppe hosted its first Curds & Kegs, a tasting event of artisan cheese and craft spirits. Live music, delicious food, a large crowd, and beautiful weather made the first Curds & Kegs a success!
The MilwaukeeFood.com Traveling Food Truck Tour: The Food Truck Tour visited the Market through the summer this year, bringing dozens of different food truck vendors, music, craft beer, and kids’ games to the Market.
National Night Out, July 24: National Night Out was a great success! Thank you to all of our sponsors, volunteers, health fair participants, vendors and the City of West Allis community. We couldn’t have asked for better weather or a better turn out this year. It was wonderful to see so many of our community members enjoying the event.
We went through:
- 1200 hot dogs
- 720 slices of pizza
- 660 ears of corn
- 125 lbs of nacho cheese
- 51 lbs of tortilla chips
- 1200 lbs of ice
- 575 candy bars
- 2600 cans of soda, lemonade and bottled water
The BIG Latch On, August 4: The Global BIG Latch On celebrated the health benefits of breast feeding as over 30 mothers and infants came together at the Market to enjoy education and peer support for breast feeding.
National Farmers Market Week, August 6 – 12: Members of the West Allis Health Department were on hand at the Market this week with temporary tattoos, free giveaways, and other fun ways to celebrate the Market during National Farmers Market Week.
Porktoberfest, Oct. 5: The West Allis-West Milwaukee Chamber of Commerce and the Shepherd Express hosted the first annual Porktoberfest, a celebration of pork and local cuisine. Milwaukee-area restaurants and caterers offered a tasting menu of sweet and savory pork inspired dishes.
Christmas Market, Dec. 1 & 2: The West Allis Cheese & Sausage Shoppe hosts the first annual Christmas Market. Inspired by open-air European markets, the Christmas Market offers over 60 specialty food retailers, hot prepared foods, beer, mulled wine, and hot chocolate, and live music.
